Title: More Snow and new courses!
Date: 14/09/2008
I climbed Mont Blanc twice last week, once with an afternoon summit
bid, climbing through the remenants of an early morning storm
facing a provisionally improving forecast. Having been in snow and
whiteout conditions for 4 hours it was a pleasant surprise to break
through the cloud and have the summit ridge from the Vallot bivvy
shelter upwards in glorious sunshine. The evening sun set was
spectacular on the way down, check out the photo below.

Beautiful sunset over the Aravis from Mont Blanc.
Went to the summit again a few days later on another trip, this time after it had been snowing yet again, 30cm of fresh on the summit ridge with 60k winds. It was pretty cold but we ploughed on and eventually reached the top getting back to the Tete Rousse refuge after a 13 and a half hour day!
It's been snowing again this past few days with snow down to 2600m, I'm up the hill again at the end of the week so we'll see how deep it is then!
All the mountains are looking beautiful and the glaciers are getting a good base which will now stay for the winter season. I had some of my best skiing in mid December last season (see shots) so fingers crossed we'll be getting the same again this Autumn.

McNab getting some freshies in Dec last year!
We have Autumn courses running in L2Alpes with our Park N Pipe and Junior development camps and then Freeride performance clinics running in Zermatt Nov/Dec. Anyone who fancies a pre season attack should call Mel asap to reserve a place.
Next seasons Chamonix courses are booking up well and all our big Voyager trips are full with waitng lists for cancellations!
To meet demands we're going to put on a new Voyager Backcountry trip to the Freeride mecca of La Grave again this season. A very exciting freeride destination with a massive varitety of different locations within easy reach (see the shots below). This summer I've been working with an American guide called Miles, who has been guiding La Grave for years and knows all the secret spots so will run this trip in conjunction with him, he also has good info on new location Heli trips in Alaska so look out for something along those lines in the not to distant future!

hanging out in La Grave on a Voyager BC 2005
Also we're putting together another Voyager Backcountry trip to Zermatt as we haven't offered a Zermatt winter trip for a few years. The Backcountry riding in Zermatt is excellent with big tours like the Schwarxtor tour, heli boarding on Monte Rosa and the possibility to climb and ride off the 4160m Breithorn!

Fresh tracks on the Schwarxtor, Zermatt.
I know both myself and Ralf have had some great riding in Zermatt guiding on our previous Voyager BC trips and so we're look forwards to getting over there again sometime soon!
Anyone interested in either of these new Voyager BC trips should get in touch with Mel for details asap as they are sure to book up pretty quickly once the word gets out!
OK, enough of my babble, hope you're all getting excited about the winter already, I know I am!
laters,
Neil.
