BC Freeride course

This the second Course in our Backcountry series, builds on the experience and knowledge gained on the BC Intro course guiding you further out into the world of the serious Backcountry Freerider.

With the emphasis, as always on mountain safety, this Course will help you further increase your awareness for the high mountains and develop your ability and confidence to tour, climb and ride within the high peaks.

With no fixed itinerary the goal of this the BC Freeride Course is simply get out and ride the best conditions and the biggest descents.

Not for the faint hearted!



Course Overview.
  • Day 1 - Avalanche search and rescue training - A warm up day at Le Tour with descents into Switzerland.
  • Day 2 - Glacier riding at the Grandes Montets or the Helbronner in Italy.
  • Day 3 - Hiking access in the Chamonix Backcountry - Col du Belvedere (60m abseil) - Aiguille Rouge.
  • Day 4 - Backcountry riding in Courmayeur or Verbier.
  • Day 5 - Hiking access in the Chamonic Backcountry - Valley Blanche (Les Periades)
  • Day 6 - Backcountry Heli day option in Switzerland or Italy.

Price Includes:
  • 6 days on snow Guidance with fully qualified ISIA Snowboard Teacher and UIAGM Mountain Guide Neil McNab (ratio 1:6).
  • Avalanche safety equipment and avalanche search and rescue training.
  • Crevasse rescue and rope technique training for glacier travel.
  • All Backcountry access equipment and training.
  • Transport to and from the mountain.


Price does not include:

  • Accommodation.
  • Lift pass.
  • Flights (nearest airport is Geneva).
  • Airport transfers.
  • Personal insurance.
  • Personal snowboarding equipment and backpack capable of carrying your board (25L minimum)


Please Note
Our Backcountry Freeride courses cater for Advanced Snowboarders who have previously attended our Backcountry intro course. A good fitness level and a minimum of 5 to 6 weeks riding experience is recommended.

For safety reasons ‘Riders unable to meet the required criteria for their chosen course may be unable to complete that course at the discretion of the course leader’. For more information on course requirements
