1. You should ride in parallel and on the right hand side of the rail if you are goofy, left of the rail if you are regular. The speed depends on the type of rail, but you need enough just to be able to get you above the rail with out too much pop.

Put your front foot over the rail and your base flat.

2. When you have popped off the ramp aim to put your front foot just over the rail. You need to turn your legs 90 degrees but don't turn your body. Put your base down flat on the rail and place your weight over your front leg. Concentrate on your front foot and look down the rail.

Push out your rear leg in the opposite direction for style.

3. Keep your legs bent and your base flat, don't lean on your edges. Your body and arms should be in line with the rail, push out your rear leg in the opposite direction for balance and style.

Keep your front foot flat to the rail and relax.

4. Keep your front foot flat to the rail and relax. Look at the end of the rail and get ready to pop off.

At the end of the rail pop off your front foot slightly.

5. As you reach the end of the rail, pop off your front foot slightly and pivot your board back underneath you to ride away forwards or fakie. Once you have the slide mastered there are loads of different combos to master for getting on and off the rail.

Practice makes perfect so get to it!
